Overview of Sport England match funding
Sport England's match funding programme is designed to amplify your fundraising efforts by contributing to your project's success. For example, for every pledge you secure, Sport England may provide equivalent funding up to a specified amount to help achieve your goals.
Cost and fee considerations
There are no additional fees applied to Sport England pledges. This means that whatever amount they pledge to your project will be received in its entirety. For instance, if Sport England pledges £7,500, this exact amount will be added to your raised funds without deductions.
Sport England transfers the funds to you outside of Crowdfunder after you have met the terms of the funding and your project is closed successfully.
How to add match funding after receiving a URN
If you have already been approved for Sport England funding and have received a URN (Unique Reference Number), you can add these funds into your Crowdfunder project by following these steps:
Access your draft Crowdfunder project page or your live project page's dashboard.
Begin the application process for matched funding: https://help.crowdfunder.co.uk/en/articles/4066057-how-to-apply-for-extra-funding
Include your URN in the appropriate section of your application form. This connects your crowdfunding project to your Sport England application.
For additional help during this process, you can refer to Crowdfunder’s comprehensive guides or contact support for tailored advice.
How can I apply for the Movement Fund via Crowdfunder?
The Movement Fund is a Sport England funding opportunity available through Crowdfunder, supporting projects that help get more people active. Match-funded pledges can be up to 50% of the project's target amount, up to a maximum of £15,000
Once your application is approved, the pledge appears on your project page after you raise at least 25% of your target from at least 25 unique supporters. You'll then need to reach 100% of your target to receive the payout of Sport England funding.
Check your eligibility
Not sure if your project qualifies? Use our Movement Fund eligibility checker. It's free, takes about two minutes, and will tell you whether your project is a good fit, or point you in the right direction if it isn't.
For the full picture, you can also review the Movement Fund objectives and eligibility criteria. Checking eligibility first helps you avoid issues later in the application process.
