Adding Offline Donations to Your Project

Adding offline pledges is a great way to boost your total!

We're pleased to let you know that offline donations can be pledged to your project. Adding offline pledges is a great way to boost your total and show the full extent of support you've received — even from those who haven’t donated online.

How to Add Offline Pledges

There are a few ways to reflect offline donations on your project:

1. Create Pledges Using Separate Accounts

You can create new supporter accounts at guest checkout using a different email address for each offline donor. This is especially useful if those who’ve donated offline would like to appear individually on your project page.

⚠️ Important: If you use your own email address to pledge multiple times, all those pledges will display your username — even if you enter a different name during checkout.

We can only associate one single username per email address. To reflect different donor names, you’ll need to use a unique email at guest checkout for each pledge.

2. Make One Combined Pledge

If you’ve received multiple offline donations, you can also make one combined pledge on their behalf. Just be aware that:

  • Platform and transaction fees will still apply.

  • It's important to be transparent by adding a comment or posting a project update to explain where the funds came from.

⚠️ Important Things to Know

Fees Apply

Just like online pledges, fees will be charged on any offline donations you add to your page.

Transparency Is Key

If you’re inputting pledges on behalf of others, we strongly recommend posting a project update or including a comment with the pledge explaining where the funds came from.

Crowdfunder match funding

If you’re applying for or have been approved for match funding, please note:

  • Offline pledges may not count toward matchfunding.

  • If you input multiple offline donations using the same name, card, or email, they will only count as one unique supporter*.

  • It is strongly advised that you check with us and the partner before adding any significant amounts to your project, as it may be against the funding T&Cs.

*A unique supporter is defined as one made using a distinct name, address, and payment method. Duplicate details may disqualify additional pledges from counting.

Additional checks will be made on match-funded projects. If duplicate pledging is detected, the matchfunding may be removed.

Consider Lowering Your Target?

If you’ve received a substantial amount in offline donations and want to reduce your crowdfunding target:

  1. Contact Crowdfunder's Support: Contact our team at [email protected] to request a change in target, and let us know about the offline donation(s) you've received.

  2. Wait for confirmation from our team: We'll review your request and confirm whether the target reduction is possible.

  3. Post a project update: Once approved, explain the change to your supporters to maintain transparency. When explaining changes to supporters, emphasise gratitude and optimism. For instance: 'We’ve taken some time to reflect on our project and, to give ourselves the best chance of success, we’ve decided to adjust our aim and target to something more realistic. We’re so grateful for all of your support so far.'

Alternatively, you can reflect offline donations by adjusting your campaign targets without adding these donations manually. Ensure to communicate these contributions transparently in your project updates or descriptions.

Important: Reducing your target may affect your eligibility for match funding, so always review your specific fund's criteria before requesting changes. Consider how lowering your target might impact how much matchfunding you can receive from funding programs.

Key Takeaways for Communicating Changes

  1. Keep your communication honest and uplifting to build trust.

  2. Always express gratitude for supporter contributions and engagement.

  3. Provide clear, actionable steps and focus on achieving meaningful outcomes.

  4. Regularly update supporters to maintain their investment in the campaign’s journey.
