Regular donations are a brilliant way to build long-term support for your Crowdfunder project. Whether you're raising money to cover vet bills, support a local cause, or fund an ongoing personal challenge, monthly donations can help create a steady stream of support from your backers.

Here’s how to switch on this feature, explain it to your supporters, and manage recurring contributions from your dashboard.


💡 What Are Regular Donations?

Regular donations allow your supporters to set up a monthly contribution to your project. Instead of giving a one-off pledge, they can choose to donate a fixed amount each month—helping you plan ahead and keep your project going.


🔧 How to Enable Regular Donations

You can turn on Regular donations either while creating your project or after it's already live. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Head to your project dashboard

  2. Click on “Edit project”

  3. Go to the “Donations & rewards” section

  4. Switch Regular donations on (or off) as needed

You can make this change at any time, even after your project has launched.

Once you’ve enabled Regular donations, you’ll need to let your supporters know why ongoing support will make a difference. This is your opportunity to explain how their money will be used beyond the initial fundraising goal.

  • “Support us with £5/month to help feed and care for stray animals while they wait for new homes.”

Once your project is live and Regular donations are switched on, this is what your supporters will experience:

  1. They’ll make their initial one-off donation or pledge.

  2. After donating, they’ll be shown a screen inviting them to set up a monthly donation.

  3. This screen will include the personalised message you’ve written, explaining how their ongoing support will be used.

Supporters can manage their monthly donations from their own account, where they’ll have the option to pause or cancel at any time.


📊 How to Track Regular Donations

You can view and manage monthly donations from your project dashboard. Each donor will appear with a status, including:

  • Active – The donation is ongoing. The next payment will be taken 30 days after the last.

  • Paused – The supporter has temporarily stopped donating.

  • Cancelled – They’ve ended their monthly contribution.

You’ll receive donations from active backers on a rolling basis after the first payment.


How do I switch my project off?

With regular donations, your project will automatically switch to "Always On" once it reaches its original closing date, provided it is successful. While your project is in the "Always On" status, you can continue to receive monthly regular donations. Whenever you decide to close your project, you can cancel any further donations by following the instructions provided below.

Log in to your project dashboard and click on 'Manage'. You will see the option to 'Close and stop accepting pledges'. Click this button and your project will be closed successfully.
