For Registered Charities

Updated over a week ago

When creating your Charity Profile, you'll need to set up your Financials and get verified in order to go live and start raising money.

Setting up your Financials

Registered charity

Choose this option if you are running the project as a registered charity and that charity is not registered with Companies House. As a registered charity, you will also need to add personal details for yourself or another individual behind the project.

Registered business

You should only choose this option if your charity is registered as a business with Companies House. You will need to enter the business name, business address, company number and the business bank details.

In addition to the usual verification requirements, registered businesses must also provide a document showing:

  • Business name

  • Business address

  • Company number (issued by Companies House)

You can easily download an acceptable document from Companies House.

You will also need to provide the details for anyone that has 25% or more ownership of the business. This may include uploading proof of home address and government issued ID for each person with 25% or more ownership.

Why do we need personal details?

We verify the identity of an individual behind every project and Charity Profile on Crowdfunder. This individual should be authorised to represent the charity. You can use a trustee's details for this purpose, or anyone else who has authority to act on the charity's behalf. This person must also be able to provide government issued ID and an address document, if required.

How long will verification take?

Once you have uploaded your documentation, it usually takes between 5 minutes and 2-3 hours to be verified. However it can sometimes take up to 2 working days to be verified, so please be mindful of this. As this is all handled by our payment provider, we cannot speed up the verification process for you.
