How do I create or edit rewards?

Guide to creating and editing rewards.

Updated over a week ago

Offering rewards to your supporters is a great way to say 'thank you'. It's also an effective way of generating supporter interest and increasing the amount of money they pledge on your project.

What's more, rewards are easy to create when setting up your campaign.

To add rewards to your project, log in to your account, go to 'My projects' and select the project you'd like to edit.

Next, go to the 'Donations & rewards' tab at the top of the page, and you'll be able to start adding rewards to your project.

What should I offer as a reward?

You could offer products, services, events and experiences to help drive pledges on your project.

  • Make sure you provide a clear description so that supporters know exactly what they'll get for their money.

  • It's also a good idea to give each reward a distinctive title to not only attract interest, but also help you identify who's pledged on which reward in your project dashboard or supporter's download.

Please make sure your rewards do not have the same reward title as each other, as only the reward title will pull through to your rewards report, and not the reward description.

πŸ’‘ Not seeing the option to add rewards?

You may have started a basic charity/personal fundraiser or a Charity Profile page. These types of pages don't have the rewards option.

To create a rewards project, click to Get started β†’ from our homepage.

On the page that follows, make sure you select the option to 'Crowdfund with donations or rewards'.

πŸ“ Please note: if you are a charity and are setting up your Charity Profile page you will be able to easily start a rewards project after your charity is approved.

We recommend offering a few rewards priced at around Β£20, as this is where a good chunk of pledges are made, and spread them evenly across different price points from Β£10 all the way up to Β£100.

If you're still not sure what to offer as a reward, this guide will give you some ideas.

You can limit the number of each reward available, depending on how many you have to offer, but also as a way of securing early support. Having only a small number is a good way to get your crowd motivated. You can add the number available by deselecting 'unlimited' (shown below) and entering the desired quantity in the box.

If you've ticked 'unlimited' and need to check how many rewards you've sold, untick the box and enter a high number instead (much higher than you actually have available). You will then see how many rewards have been claimed. For example, you might enter '200' in the box and see that you have sold 25 (as pictured below).

To mark your reward as sold out, simply enter a number in the box equal to the number of rewards you have sold. The sold out reward will then be greyed out and will be moved to the bottom of your list of rewards.

If your reward comes in different sizes or colours (or any other variant), you can add these options for supporters to select. Simply click 'add option' and type the details into the box. Please note that you can't add quantity amounts to the individual options – the quantity you enter applies to the reward as a whole.

Is your reward an item that needs to be sent by post? Then make sure you tick yes!

Let supporters know when they can expect to receive their reward. Please allow yourself a reasonable amount of time to deliver on this promise. It's best to manage customer expectations and surprise them with an early delivery!

Finally, if you're claiming Gift Aid through your project, make sure your rewards are also eligible for Gift Aid then tick the box below.

You can edit your rewards right up until the point that they have been pledged on. This is so that once a supporter has purchased a reward you can not change what that reward is and the supporter gets what they have 'been sold'.

If you have made a mistake and need to make slight changes to the wording of your reward after it has already been purchased please get in touch via our contact form, and we will be able to make the changes for you: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/contact-us

Please note that we are unable to make any changes to 'reward options'.

You can also feature a reward that will sit at the top of your rewards list on your project page. The dropdown will show all of the rewards you have created so choose one that you particularly want to showcase.

This will then be starred and featured at the top of your page so make it something you think you will sell a lot of or you want to stand out from the rest of the rewards. You can always edit this whilst your project is live and feature a different one each week if you wanted!
