Why did my ID fail verification?

Troubleshooting for uploading your verification documents

Updated over 4 months ago

When creating your project, you'll need to upload your ID to verify your identity. As the ID verification process is automated, you'll need to upload a file in the correct format and meet all the requirements in or to be verified.

If you're having trouble getting your identity document verified, take a look at the information below to understand common reasons for identity documents not being verified.

Solutions to common problems:

Problem: Not an exact match

The individual's name, date of birth or address you entered do not exactly match the details on the ID or address document. For example, if you entered 'Sam' as individual's name, but the passport reads 'Samuel', the document will not be verified.

Solution: Edit the details

You can edit these details when you upload your ID again, making sure that they are an exact match to the ID.

___

Problem: Only part of the document has been photographed

All the corners and edges of the ID aren't visible on the photo uploaded.

Solution: Take new photo

Place your ID document on a table. Take a new photo, making sure that you can see the table all the way around the ID. This ensures that all corners and edges of the document are visible in the new photo.

___

Problem: Wrong file format
The file is not in JPG or PNG format.

Solution: Change the file format.
Export or save the file as a JPG or PNG. If you're unsure how to do that, try asking a friend or searching the web for help.

___

Problem: Black-and-white image
Photos or scans in black-and-white will not be accepted.

Solution: Colour image

Upload a new image in full colour.

___

Problem: Address document is too old

Documents issued more than six months ago will not be accepted.

Solution: Document dated within the past six months
Upload a document that has been issued within the past six months.

___

Problem: File is too large

You must upload a file under 8MB in size.

Solution: Reduce file size
Reduce the file size to under 8MB. If you're unsure how to do that, try asking a friend or searching the web for help.
