Several factors affect your project's ability to close early, including:
The current status of the project
The amount of money pledged to the project
To understand what options are available for closing your project, please read through the following scenarios:
My project is live but has not raised any money.
You can take the project offline in the "Manage" section of your project dashboard by clicking the "Take Offline" button. This action will put your project back into draft mode, allowing you to continue working on it and relaunch it later.
2. My project is live and has received pledges.
If your live project has already received pledges, there may be additional options in the "Manage" section of your dashboard, depending on your project's status and the amount raised so far. Here are the options available:
Close unsuccessfully and refund your supporters.
You can choose to close your project and refund your supporters at any time. After doing this, your project will be marked as unsuccessful, and all pledges will be refunded. You will not be able to continue receiving pledges after this action.
Request an early payout.
For most projects, you can schedule, pause, or start payouts directly from your Payouts tab in your project dashboard once you meet the payout criteria. For detailed information on managing payouts, please refer to our Payout Guide.
If your project does not have this dashboard functionality, you can request an early payout via the "Manage" section. This option allows funds raised so far to be paid out, with future pledges transferred on a rolling basis until your project closes.
To be eligible for an early payout, your project must meet the following criteria:
Be live for at least 7 days with cleared pledges
Use the Keep What You Raise funding type (also known as Flexible Funding)
If your funding type is All or Nothing, you must have reached 100% of your funding target.
If your project is eligible for payout but you don’t see either option in the Manage or Payouts tab of your dashboard, please contact our support team for assistance.
Request an early close.
You can request that your project close as soon as possible, rather than waiting for the original closing date. Your funds will be paid out within the next 7 working days. To request this option, your project must meet these requirements:
Live for at least 7 days
If your funding type is All or Nothing, you must have reached 100% of your funding target.
Note: You can switch your project to "Always On" either before or after closing early, allowing you to continue accepting donations. For more details, please see our guide which explains the Always on functionality.
3. My project is already Always on or is a Charity Fundraiser.
Go to the 'Manage' section of your project dashboard and click on 'Close project'. Once you have done this, your project will close and be marked as successful, meaning you will no longer be able to receive donations.
