When creating your Charity Profile on Crowdfunder, you’ll need to complete the Financials setup and get verified before you can go live and start raising money. Here’s a breakdown of what’s required to get your charity profile verified and active.
Setting Up Your Financials
1. Registered Charity
As a registered charity or CIO, you will need to:
Personal information for an individual, including name, DOB and personal address (because you are personally verifying as a representative of the charity). Please make sure that your representative is a trustee of the charity.
Once you have completed this step, please then add the information of all the charity's trustees
Provide your charity’s name, registration number, and bank details- these must match your registered details on the Charity Commission exactly.
Upload your charity overview. You may have the option to print the page at the bottom of the page, which can then be saved as a PDF.
Important: The charity name, registration number, and address you enter in the Financials section must match your Charity Commission registration exactly. You can use the Charity Commission’s search function to confirm your registered details.
2. Charitable Company
If your charity is also registered as a business with Companies House, you should select the Charitable company option.
As a charitable company, you will follow the registered business verification flow. You will need to provide:
Personal information of a legal representative (because you are personally verified as a representative of the organisation).
Once you have completed this step, please then add the information of all your directors as listed on Companies House.
Your Charitable company name, business address, and company number as registered with Companies House.
A valid business document showing your business name, address, and Companies House company number.
You may also be asked for a document showing your directors. You can provide an overview of your person's page on Companies House.
You must also provide details for anyone with 25% or more ownership or control of the organisation (listed on Companies House as persons with significant control. This may include uploading proof of home address and a government-issued ID for each such person.
Why Do We Need Personal Details?
We ask for personal details to verify the identity of the individual behind every project and charity profile on Crowdfunder. This person must be authorised to represent the charity and should be able to provide government-issued ID and proof of address, if required.
You can use a trustee's details or anyone else who has the authority to act on the charity’s behalf for this purpose.
How Long Will Verification Take?
Once you’ve uploaded your documentation, verification typically takes up to 48 hours. However, depending on the volume of submissions, it can sometimes take up to 2 working days for your documents to be processed.
Since the verification process is managed by our payment provider, we cannot expedite this timeline. Please plan accordingly and be patient while your verification is processed.
