I didn't receive a pledge confirmation. Did my payment go through?

What to do if you do not receive a pledge confirmation email.

I made a pledge or donation, but didn’t receive a confirmation email

If you’ve made a pledge or donation but haven’t received a confirmation email, don’t worry, this is usually easy to resolve. Below are the most common reasons this happens and what you can do next.

1. Pledge visibility issues

Anonymous pledges

Comments are not displayed for pledges made anonymously. This helps prevent anonymous or inappropriate messages.

How to fix it:

  • Change your pledge to public if you want your comment to appear

  • Contact Crowdfunder support if you need help making this change

Finding your comment

If your pledge is public and you’ve left a comment:

  • Go to the Supporters tab on the campaign page

  • Click “View more”, as comments may be hidden if there are many supporters

If you still can’t find your comment, contact Crowdfunder support for assistance.

2. Incorrect email address

Possible issue: The email address entered during checkout contains a typo.

If you reached the “Thank you!” page but didn’t receive the email titled
“You just backed [Project Name]” your email address may have been entered incorrectly.

What to do:

  • Check that the email address in your Crowdfunder account matches the one you used when pledging

  • You can update this in the Account section

Can’t log in due to the typo?
Contact us at [email protected] or use the support chatbot (bottom-right of the site). Please include:

  • The name and email address you believe you used

  • The amount pledged

  • The last 4 digits of your payment card

  • A link to the project you supported

Guest donations:
If you donated as a guest, double-check that the email entered was correct. If not, contact support with your donation details so we can verify your email or resend your receipt.

3. Email went to spam or junk

Possible issue: Your email provider filtered the confirmation email.

What to do:

  • Check your Spam or Junk folder

  • If you find the email, mark it as “Not Spam” so future emails arrive in your inbox

4. Email sent to a different address

Possible issue: You pledged on behalf of someone else.

  • If you entered your own email during checkout, the confirmation was sent to you

  • If you added details in the “This is a gift” section, the project owner may contact the recipient directly

If you’re unsure, you can contact the project owner via the campaign page to confirm or update the recipient’s details.

5. Payment didn’t go through

Possible issue: You didn’t reach the “Thank you!” page or received an error message.

First, check:

  • Your bank statement to see if funds were deducted

Occasionally, you may see a “pledge declined” message even though the payment later succeeds. This can happen if an initial attempt fails but is retried successfully.

Common reasons payments fail:

  • Insufficient funds

  • Expired or incorrect card details

  • Bank restrictions on online or overseas payments

  • Temporary technical issues

What to try:

  • Double-check your card details:

    • Card number

    • Cardholder name

    • Expiry date

    • Security code

    • Postcode

  • Enter pledge amounts as whole numbers only (e.g. £10, not £10.00)

  • Contact your bank to confirm:

    • No restrictions or holds are in place

    • Overseas transactions are allowed (for international projects)

    • Prepaid or debit cards have sufficient funds

    • Large pledges won’t be blocked

If problems continue, try using a different card.

6. How to check your pledge status

To see whether your pledge was successful:

  1. Log in to your Crowdfunder account

  2. Click the dropdown next to your profile icon

  3. Select “My pledges”

  4. Click the “+” next to any pledge to view or manage it
